Mate of mine found the only way to get their baby to go to sleep, without having to take the kid for a drive, was to have the car idle outside the bedroom window.

Back in the '80's a buddy had a full size Chevy Blazer....350 V8-4 barrel, lifted suspension, large mudder tires, locker rear axle etc. He was in his 30's and hunted with a couple of guys in their 70's. The old guys...actually my age now ...had 2 WD sedans and wanted him to bring his 4WD Blazer out to the hunt, so they wouldn't have to make the considerable walk, through and to the wet, muddy fields to the duck/goose blinds.

He always refused as he felt his Blazer, albeit capable with it's 4WD.....would be able to get 50 feet beyond the reach of the tow truck's winch.

I can't.

We bought a LazyBoy recliner and every night like clockwork (after supper, around 7:15 pm) I drift off, generally in the middle of a 'Murder She Wrote'...starring Angela Lansbury or an episode of Monk.

My wife gently wakes me up as if I sleep too long in the evening it means I won't be able to get to sleep at night till around 2:30 pm.

I tell you....the trials and tribulations of my golden years !
That’s the problem of snoozing in the evening. Better to sleep properly, not wake up and then naturally wake at an early morning time a full night of sleep after beginning.

Exactly.

Our daughter, now in her 30's, had great difficulty going to sleep at night when she was a baby. Hard to believe but some nights the only way to get her asleep was to bundle her into her car seat and take her for a drive in the back seat of our old '83 Pontiac Phoenix on a nearby highway. She would conk out within 10 minutes. The Pontiac had those old style GM plush seats, however I don't know if that had anything to do with getting her asleep.
We found our daughter would wake up at the same intersection about a mile from home when she had slept most of the way home.

You haven’t read these kind of threads yet, have you? Ogling is a very minor feature of these “discussions”.

When driving big trucks I got used to sleeping while the truck idled all night. I then found it difficult to sleep at home, in a quiet room. Talking about it with my dispatcher, a former truck driver himself, and he suggested I start the lawnmower and place it outside the bedroom window.

You just need a glass of shoe polish before bedtime to sleep like a baby.

If it was really about cameras that might be important. But there's little point in differentiating which camera you won't buy. If it starts with a K-3 destination we are covered. Good thing Pentax didn't name the new flagship something else.

Our #1 son slept all the time. Got into a great schedule early and we thought we had the parenting things down pat. #2 son slept a total of about 6 hours a day. Somehow we made it because he was followed by sons #3 and #4. No daughters for me to spoil rotten.

But.

There can be only one.

The movie, The Highlander. Hmmnnn.

A Scotsman ....Sean Connery...with a Scottish accent playing a Spaniard with an ill concealed Scottish accent and a Frenchman (Christopher Lambert) with a French accent playing a Scottish highlander....with an ill concealed French accent.

Neither one seemed to be making much effort to adopt the proper accent.

Are there no dialogue coaches in semi modern moviedom ?

I know in movies, entertainment and all that..... the audience is supposed to suspend their disbelief....but there has got to be limits.
