That won't last long.
If you want to bring something nobody will pilfer bring a bottle of Canadian Whisky.

Some (tongue-in-cheek) background:

The legal requirements for a spirit to be called bourbon are:
Produced in the United States
Made from a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn
Aged in new, charred oak containers
Distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.)* proof (80% alcohol by volume)
Entered into the container for aging at no more than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume)
Bottled (like other whiskeys) at 80 proof or more (40% alcohol by volume)
May not contain added colors or flavorings

As far as I can tell the requirements for Canadian whisky are:
Must be distilled in Canada
Must contain ethanol
Must be brownish in color.

* Historically 100 proof is 57.06%.

That is no surprise. We Canucks have our standards too !!

It was a mostly tongue in cheek comment.

I volly patrolled at the mountain here last year, started with a pack and first aid kit, but found some vests in the gear room and grabbed one. Everything is accessible a lot quicker, and you can take a back pack as well (such as oxygen, drugs, beanbags, etc) if needed. Not only that, but better weight distribution wearing it all day long.

A lot.

But then again, given that beautiful Speckled Trout ( ? ) I'd say maybe you didn't miss all that much. Looks like you were off on a grand adventure.

What tackle did you use...fly, spinning, bait caster, spin cast or ? Lures, bait, flies ?

Are trout native to NZ or an introduced species ?

Thanks Les. Yes, we were away for a week.
Rainbow. Introduced species, but makes for fun fresh water fishing. Lake Taupo, lure at 50ft depth in 130ft deep water, trawling.

Nothing says "arrest me, I'm an idiot crackhead" like a Crown Royal bag in plain sight.
Drug dealers in US do seem stupid. I was once traveling with a friend who pointed out a couple of drug dealer cars on the freeway. He could tell because they drove beat up old small trucks, F100 or F150 size, and erratically changed lanes in heavy traffic but were not especially fast. Much of the traffic was faster, so if anything they were a bit slow.

Puzzling why they do not learn to drive like everyone else so they blend in.

Drug dealers in any country are generally stupid. A tale from the woods - well, Glasgow again... - from a customer with a son in the police. The drug squad were preparing for a bust of a dealer’s flat with the customary reconnaissance officer in mufti sat in a beat-up car outside on the street. A previously unknown car pulled up beside him and the passenger rolled down his window: “Anywhere we can get some gear round here, pal?” “Try that flat over there” he answered. “Brilliant, pal!” this likely lad exclaimed. You can imagine the rest.

As for vehicles, it rather takes the shine off one’s new BMW to be told it looks like a drug dealer’s car: such a fate befell the X6 when it first appeared on our streets...

I’m a bit late, (10:30pm Jan 1) but happy new year to all the Theaders.
I’ve been a bit quiet lately - storm on Sunday blew my wood shed off its stumps. Blew it past the clothes line ( close enough to require a $15 repair and a lot of rethreading of the actual line.) and ended up as a pile if twisted galvanised iron on top of my Granny Smith apple tree. Said apple tree was a flat as could be, was loaded with the best crop we have ever had. But this year we are not going to harvest the crop, because apples were three months off maturity. As Mr P would say, Darn, or Oh my, that was unfortunate.
Ok, given the old adage "if there is no photo, it didn't happen", here are a couple of shots of the dam age;
#1 the shed piled up on the apple tree.
#2 the place where the shed should be - note the little stack of wood standing proudly. Very little of the stack fell off when the shed decamped.
