The '69 was a 1500cc 4 cylinder, boxer four ...stock, except for some minor exhaust pipe mods (taper tips) .
I took it out to the drags. I stopped the Chrondeks @ 19.4 seconds @ 68.5 mph...which wasn't bad for a VW. But I drove like a kamikaze pilot back then.
But even so, the V-Dub was about the slowest car on the track . It was no '70 Nova with a L78 375/396.
Watching that video was very impressive from the quality of the car build to the performance. 517 HP in a car that came stock @ around 50-55 HP. Just demonstrates how much you can improve acceleration when you plug in an engine with around 10 times the original power. All about power to weight.
