Encourage Costco to carry Pentax K-3

If you are a fan of Costco or Costco shopper, I encourage you to go up to the Manager's Counter (opposite checkout) and have them send a message to their purchasing department and request they carry the Pentax K-3. I was amazed this could be done, but if they get enough request, they will consider carrying it or having it on their website. They already carry Pentax products on their website.

Don't they already carry Pentax consumer DSLRs? Not sure if there would be enough interest in a wholesale club for a $1300 camera, but who knows!

Usually Costco does bundles with entry level cameras, or at least the one I go to does. So I'd be surprised if they picked up the k-3. The k-50 or k-500 would make more sense.

They carry the Nikon 7100 and Canon 6D so why wouldn't they carry the K-3 (website only).

No please not. I've got some pride, and I couldn't cope with my mates going on about how they could get the Pentax flagship camera for the cash & carry.

I guess website makes sense, but in store I've only seen the T3i, T4i, etc. Usually Canon.

Last spring they had literally pallets of D600 kits @ $2,400 or there abouts. Don't remember the exact price or deal. Maybe with 24-105 lens??? I was tempted to buy, even had the box in my hand but passed.

Last year the Costco near me had pallets of the Nikon D600 with a kit lens.

I saw the Nikon D600s at my Costco.
I brought in a sd card with me to test it out.
The AF was very quick but I did not like the overall bulk of the camera.

Agree, I was tempted but in the end it came down to the FF mystique on the one hand and a heavy, awkward, bulky camera on the other. The k-5 won out

Last Christmas they had the D600 with a two lens kit(24-85vr and 55-300vr). My friend bought one at that time. I have to say it's not much bigger than the K-5, but it is noticeable(more K20D sized). Most of the bulk seems to come from the Prism area, which is understandable. The D primes are also tiny. I bought one during the recent firesale. I don't mind carrying it around. The weight difference is only 100g. The battery life is unbelievable, so you can save 100g by not bringing a spare battery . I think I will be bringing my NEX 6 for when I want some range while traveling light. My Sigma 100-300/4 is a beast, but no more so than my K-5 with Tamron 70-200 was.

The Costco near me has the Nikon 7100 bundle in store as well as the Canon 6D and 60D bundle. Each of those costs more than the K3, so no reason they couldn't carry that too. And Costco's bundles are always a good deal, as they negotiate special packages with the manufacturers that are often available only at Costco. So I say, C'mon Costco...carry the K3.

If you want it...you are going to have to ask for it. I am sending emails to costco.com customer service and visiting my local stores requesting that they carry it. They send messages to their purchasing department via computer.

I encourage you to do the same.

Thanks!

I don't mind requesting for a fellow forum member. I have friends who will only buy something if it's sold at Costco, and one of them ended up with a t4i .
