Earthquake in Cebu, Philippines

Does anyone know is Pentax factory affected by the Earthquake in Cebu, Philippines.? The main camera plant is located in this city. K-3 production and shipment could be delayed.

The neighbouring island of Bohol apparently bore the brunt of this 7.2 quake, though the damage looks extensive on Cebu too. I think it sounds like it's quite likely that there will be disruption of some kind. More info on the BBC: BBC News - Deadly Philippine quake hits Bohol and Cebu

This appears to be the contact data, if anyone wants to call: Pentax Cebu Philippines Corporation | Philippines | Company Profile

My mother's family is from Bohol. I'm not thinking about cameras right now.

I suggest that we let the people working in the Cebu plant take care of more pressing needs at the moment. If you have any questions, direct them to your national Ricoh Pentax office.

Pentax is located in the island of Mactan (where Magellan was killed). Mactan is a very small island connected to Cebu via two bridges. Mactan appears to have sustained minor damages compared to Bohol and Cebu so the Pentax building should be ok. I'm not 100% sure if this plant actually produces DSLRs.

Thank you very much for your answer. Pentax facility in Cebu is the main Pentax camera plant. They recently celebrated 20 million cameras milestone. The thoughts are now about the tragedy and people of Cebu. However, remember what an impact Japan's and Thailand's disasters made for the whole world electronics. It is a unbearable tragedy, indeed. But business may suffer greatly too.

I've asked your question, on Pentax PH facebook page. I'm scared of the answer.

I hope they're all OK.
Best wishes for everyone from the affected area.

I've friends in Bohol and Cebu. The quake has killed more than 120 as of now, and I hope that's the final count. As for the plant, last news we heard was employees were dismissed for a day or two. Work had probably resumed by now.
