Here's a video showing off what changes Pentax has made to the K-3 (also posted on our homepage):

I'm one of the lock haters, so is my brother! Good that they thought about us.

The "trash" or delete button now cycles through exposure.

I think it is on the top LCD.

Yes both Focus point selection and metering pattern are now illustrated on the top LCD and the rear info

I have hopes, that now they are moved off a direct control, both settings may be recorded within user settings.

Agreed. The new system is usable, but I use that manual switch quite frequently on the K-5 and find it very quick and easy to access. Shame to see it go.
RIP exposure area selector, you will be missed.

It's to give one the choice of using the locking button, as on the K-5, or having the dial turn freely, as some people prefer.

Yes you can't ask for more flexibility than that.

When the slider is on unlock: the central mode button is held down permanently and the Mode selector is free to turn (as K20). On Lock: the button is raised and the mode selector works exactly as on K7/5

Plus one, or is that two by now?

I didn't change it too often... but am now hoping that as its software switched it can now form part of a user setting. I'm also hoping that is can have various dimensions of the central spot. With the 86k sensor I guess linking metering to AF point will have considerable more relevance.
