Release dates confirmed for K-3, K-3 Silver

From DCWatch October 22 [Google translated]:

The confirmed release dates are:

November 1: K-3, battery grip D-BG5, the new 55-300 WR, and maybe the FLU card.
November 29: the limited edition silver K-3 kit.

From the article:
QuoteQuote:
Ricoh Imaging, decided on November 1, the release date of the 18-135 kit body and digital single-lens reflex camera "PENTAX K-3". Limited model "K-3 Premium Silver Edition" will be released on November 29.
[...]
In addition, battery grip "D-BG5", camera strap "O-ST1401", "55-300mm F4-5.8 ED WR HD PENTAX-DA" also released on November 1. I have the upcoming launch a Wi-Fi enabled memory card that was announced at the same time as K-3 is "FLUCARD FOR PENTAX 16GB".
The article also says the 2000 limited edition silver K-3 kit sold out on 11 October. That was quick, but not surprising.

That's a really, really long wait for me. Dang it I wish the silver were being released alongside the black. I was hoping to take my new DSLR to Thanksgiving dinner.

End of November?

I'm really hoping to get my silver kit early December then - want to use it for the Christmas parties/gatherings!

I'm not sure I accept that all silver kit have been pre-ordered. This is just a hunch, but my gut feeling is that all have been earmarked for distribution by certain retailers & outlets; i.e. all have been accounted for. For instance, it seems they're still up for grabs from Yodobashi. Mind you, it ain't cheap.

This is incorrect. The webpage does in fact state that they are sold out.

Well, bugger. Very nice of them to leave a price on display.

Now I'm sorta kicking myself for ordering a silver. I would rather have had one in hand to start shooting with. :\

And I'd say you're right. But they'll fly off the shelves, anyway.

For those who have pre-ordered cameras from B&H before, do they usually ship on the release date, or do they usually do release date delivery (i.e. Amazon)?

Hi,

For those of us in Australia, I called at the Adelaide Office of CR Kennedy today for a new Ricoh GR Lens Ring. While there I asked about delivery dates for the K3 (both black and silver) and was advised both were expected at the same time, at some point during November.

Not necessarily very comforting if you've pre-ordered; it could still be late November, but at least both variants are supposed to arrive together. Hopefully beginning of November is still a chance.

Has anyone heard any different in Aust.?

I emailed CR Kennedy on Friday last week (after reading the 29 November thing here), and received the following in response: "Our supplier has got back to me and...it is still on track to arrive with us early November".

I notice B&H in the US are still saying on the order pages for both K-3's: "Expected availability: End of November 2013" for the K-3 Silver, and "Expected availability: Beginning of November 2013" for the black K-3.

Naturally if everything arrived earlier that would be nice, but I guess the retailers will play it safe. Nov 1/Nov 29 may work for arrival in stores in Japan, but it takes time for containers to move around the world, move through ports, and enter sales channels.

On a related note I just noticed B&H have slugged me already for my K-3 battery grip pre-order. Since they say they only charge when an item ships, it looks like my grip may be on its way already. So the grip may be available ahead of the bodies in some stores.

I was on the phone to CRK sale on Friday after I realised I had ..ahem.. accidentally ordered 2 K-3's

The lady I spoke with was very nice, but playing her cards close to her chest. The best I could get out of her was a sort of agreement with my guess that the K-3's would be available 'mid November- ish?'

Just got to sit and be patient

I still have no word on the BG-5 availability in Oz. Anyone heard anything?
