From what I could understand from the video and the blog, it was also a pre-production K-3.
So if the pre-production K-3 was a hot-rod, the production K-3 [matched with a fast SD card like a Sandisk Extreme Pro] should be a drag strip racer.
The manual says the K-3 will do 8.3 fps, with 23 RAWs or 60 JPGs in the buffer, even with it's 24 MP files ... Notably, the $6000 16MP Nikon D4 only does 10 or 11 fps, and the $6500 18MP Canon 1Dx can only push 11fps. In APS-C, the Canon 7D can do 8fps too, of course, with a 25 shot RAW buffer, but only at 18 MP. And the 24 MP Nikon D7100 can only do 6fps, with a very modest 6 shot RAW buffer.
In it's class, nothing comes close to the K-3, it seems, for shooting speed and performance.
Over time, the K-3 fps and buffer depth may improve even further due to extra firmware tuning after v1.0 is released. The v1.01 firmware update significantly improved the buffer depth of the K-5, for example, over what it launched with.
Top camera in its class for
low-light (-3EV) AF. Plus top camera in all categories for low-light (-3EV) exposure metering. Top of it's class for shooting speed ... the reasons for buying a K-3 keep stacking up
