It's clear to me that the only issue with this well-made marketing material is that it's about Pentax. If it were any other manufacturer everything would be great.
Pentax should not be allowed marketing, the only thing that must be said about them is "they're doomed".
I'm just waiting for the Frater critique of the Nikon advertisements made by that other well known photographer ... Ashton Krutches or some such.

The reasons why most pros like a 645 medium format (from Hasselblad, Pentax or whomever), is the very same reason why they would avoid a K-3, or why they would avoid any other APSC cam of any maker (unless there are plenty of really fast lenses on offer, maybe).
I hope I'm misreading this but this is quite a hasty generalization... different pros have different needs, some landscape photographers might also like fast lenses, and some pros might not want a medium format for their work (e.g. wildlife) so avoiding the K-3 might be for other reasons and not just because it isn't medium format...

Yep, I agree with that. Instead of just saying "pro", one should always say, which type of pro. In the context of this advert, I had pros like Allen in mind, but this may not have been obvious. An other photographer doing just pornography for a living, for example, would also be a "pro" of course

No, I just ignore these, as I would ignore Canon's ads as well. Not interested.
Reason: In general I don't follow marketing videos or campaigns, as I'm orientated towards results rather than marketing promises. Consequently, if Ricoh's video wasn't referred to from here, I wouldn't have known about its existence.

Apart from that, Nikon would have been interesting for me as a Pentaxian only, if Ricoh would have delivered a K-5iii with just a new sensor and 100 body colors , which I was seriously afraid of. But with the K-3 having arrived, any previous consideration for the Nikon D7100 is now sitting on the back bench.

If I hadn't Pentax lenses already but was a DLSR market joiner having no lenses yet (i.e. a "most valuable customer")...hard to say. I probably would end up with going for the D7100, but simply because of the lens offerings. Better entry level support (e.g. Nikon's 55-300 is cheaper, despite having an AF motor, an anti-shake, and two more lens elements than the Pentax counterpart), and there's better choice for advanced lenses from Nikon as well as from 3rd parties (who fully provide their latest generations to the Nikon mount).

But now, owning already some Pentax lenses (APSC coverage only), and FF not being a prio for me at the moment, the K-3 would be the natural way to go of course .

Mh. I still think the K-5 wins in terms of handling and body size, though the handling thing is a tough one. The D7100 is not a bad camera... just not ideal to me.

The purpose of this marketing video was to raise awareness of Pentax, and to show BEGINNERS/WANNABES that Pentax is a tool that can be used by pros. Will it make a pro switch brands? Probably not, maybe as an additional camera, maybe it raises awareness to them, but switching brands, especially if you have invested a lot already is difficult. But beginners... first time camera buyers... those are the ones Pentax are and should be aiming at. People who consider buying into one of the different systems. You want to show them an upgrade path they can understand. They may think... oh, Pentax is nice, but what if I want to get REALLY serious into photography? The pros use Canon... so I'll buy Canon. The beginners may not buy the K-3 but K-50 or K-500, but as long as they buy anything Pentax... and some of them will upgrade eventually.

And Pentax getting a bit more popular? I'm all for it. That means they have the cash to invest in new stuff we want.
