Mavericks has a RAW update I think, and Aperture 3.5 is a free upgrade

If you do the RAW development in camera, just like the K-5, the K-3 lets you output TIFF too, for better output quality... File size may be ginormous though.

EDIT: Hmm, I may be wrong.
p-71 of the K-3 manual says only JPG's may be saved from in-camera RAW development. However p-94 of the K-3 manual says TIFF is one of the file formats available for saving processed RAWs.

It would be a pity to lose that functionality in the K-3. Although I never used it on the K-5, it seems handy to have.

Either way, surely the K-3 comes with a software CD that would allow K-3 DNG's to be processed into JPGs?

No kidding. my 16mp fuji raws are 24-25mb each. This core 2 duo E6700 chugs soooo badly in lightroom.

You can start with only a bigger harddisk (or two, or three or...) ;-)

The K-3 writes DNG version 1.2.0.0. "Backward compatibility" is also 1.2.0.0. This is a change from the K-5IIs (and Q) which wrote DNG version 1.1.0.0.

The following Adobe products should work:
DNG Converter 4.4 onwards.
ACR 4.4 onwards.
Lightroom 1.4 onwards

Will Photoshop CS6 work? What about Camera Raw - seems like all Adobe products should work - I thought DNG was an Adobe inspired 'standard"

I had no problem opening the IR - RAW files from the K3 in Photoshop CS4 with Camera Raw 5.7, so I don't think there will be any problem in CS6.

Photoshop CS6 uses ACR 7. It will work. (ACR = "Adobe Camera RAW").

As far as I can tell, all Photoshops from CS3 (with its latest ACR) onwards will be OK. And all Lightroom from the last version of 1 will be OK.

All this talk about ACR and Adobe - but what about Pentax Digital Camera Utility 5, which is supposed to be on the CD included with the K-3.

Has anyone used it?

The critical bit of information for me is: Does tracking autofocus work during video shoot? Focus on something, start shooting video, walk towards the thing you focused on, and observe whether it stays in focus or not. If it does stay in focus, this camera will do it for me!
out of curiosity what do you use for video editing?
