I preordered the K-3 on Day 1, October 7th at the Pentax Webstore. I just received this email telling me that the K-3 is "temporarily out of stock" and is expected to ship within 30 days. It is hard to believe that my order would not be filled in the first batch since I preordered on the first day they were accepting orders. Did anyone else who preordered at the Webstore get this email?

This is the email:

Due to an unusually large response, we are temporarily out of stock
of the item(s) you ordered. Additional quantities are on order and
we expect them soon. Your order will receive priority upon receipt
In the warehouse, and we expect to be able to ship order within 30
days or sooner. We are very sorry for the delay and assure you that
we are making every effort to expedite your order.

If you wish to cancel your order, please call us at 1-800-243-8633,
or e-mail us at the address listed above. We believe the wait will
be worthwhile, but of course the choice is yours.

I ordered from B&H and no notice of anything yet. Just checked their web site and the k-3 is showing as "in stock" for body only and November 5th for kit with 18-135.

Pentax webstore is run under contract by someone other than Pentax, so maybe they had to get in line with all other retailers and pre-order. If they did not order enough, or did not order any, then they are out.

That's odd. This member is already complaining about receiving a defective K-3 from the Pentax Webstore... of course, he hasn't posted any photos of the camera (and this is the internet, where we say "photos or it didn't happen.").

The first Canadian shipments started arriving today (mine is due tomorrow AM, sniff).

After this Pentax Webstore debacle, I would cancel the order and place an order with a reputable company.

I would have liked to have ordered from B&H (they're in my neighborhood), but I was too cheap to pay the 9% tax I would have been stuck with.

B&H buys more Petaxes than any other retailer. That's where you should be pre-ordering if you want to get the camera first!

BTW, B&H is showing as having the K-3 in stock, so you may want to cancel the first order and place another:
