I'm waiting because the store I pre-ordered it from doesn't have it in stock yet.

I always wait for bugs to work out and prices to stabilize. On the bug side, I'm not totally sure it helped me on the K-5, though.

I always wait. To ensure that initial bugs are worked out and that the price goes down. Bought my K10D in Nov. 2007....more than a year after it was introduced and my K-5 in November 2011...about a year or so after it was introduced.

Quite fancy one...I've got a K5ii at the moment and I want to see how much better the AF is with it. I'd also like some longer glass as well (the Sigma 150-500 looks good, but I want something that is weather sealed as well). I'd love a fairly quick 100-400 that's weather sealed (but I think it is the 55-300 on there possibly!) or a weather sealed 1.4x teleconverter that I can use with my 60-250.

If you think you're being limited by your camera and need to upgrade to the K3, check out this photostream.

He shoots with a K-5 and K-01. Landscape, kids, macro, wildlife... Pretty inspiring.

I'm thinking photography skill, and pp technical skill, are my limiters, not the camera.

Sure, I would like a new K3, but there's more I could do to improve my photography with $1300.

I will get better with my K-5 and wait for the next Pentax camera to come out next year, at which time prices for the K3 will most likely go down. But ask me again next week

That's pretty much the attitude I have. Honestly, I'm not sure when I'll upgrade--maybe when the K5 dies? Who knows?

I've decided to sell the K-7 and get a K-30... and sell my K-5 and get a K-3 when they drop below $1000.
Selling K-5 now since it is worth more now than it will be in a few months....

I'm going to wait, both till the wrinkles are ironed out and order through my military exchange catalog. I get an excellent warranty for really cheap and they have to match the lowest price.
I love my K-5 and want to make sure the K-3 works as well.
When I bought my LX, I was Japan and bought it on base. It was also sold in the overseas catalog only. I'm not sure why AAFES does this.

Will wait

Will certainly wait but not for K-3 rather prices of K-5IIs to get in the USD 700 range My theory is regardless of what folks on this forum think prices of K-3 ARE gonna come down. It is going head to head with flagships from Canon,Nikon and Sony. Ricoh just cant afford to sell it for 1300 for very long.

Plus the high ISO performance of K-3 looks horrible compared to even K5IIs forget about D7100 And we are not even talking about the Video performance Shake Reduction!!
They should've just used the same sensor as in K5IIs and given it all the other nice features in K-3. It would've still been the top APSC DSLR! Alas....Ricohhhhh

I am waiting until 2014. I bought the IIs in 2013 and for taxes I don't want to have two camera purchases on the taxes...better to have one a year. Plus, I have two weddings left this year...so I don't want to mix things up. I will order in the spring during the slow season but I will be ordering!!

I'll be waiting until 2014 and looking for some firmware updates before I pull the trigger on the K3. I like what I see so far though!

p.s. Kind of glad I procrastinated on the K5 now. ;-)

I haven't upgraded my dSLR since 2007. Fell (hard) for the K-01 and she is good, but I think it is time.

So the 10th of February every year I get a bonus. Looks like a good one is coming this year, so there you go. 2014.

The real problem is Ricoh is redoing so many lenses that I might have to rethink the whole film camera / manual focus lenses idea altogether to raise some cash, and selling that lot is some real work.

Nothing but a K3 and 3 D-FA HD Limiteds? (ready for DLx1 that way, too)

If one wants a silver version of the k-3, then waiting this time round will not help as the k-3s silver are sold out in a jiff. I guess if one wants a black k-3, then waiting a little while is doable....
