Not terribly inspiring, but here's my 1st post and 1st photo with my K3. ISO3200, old 50mm f1.4 M, processed with RRP, no sharpening or deniose (does it apply by default?). Available light, 60 watt bulb porch light. I'm stunned at how much cleaner the noise is using RRP than Raw Therapee. The zoomed version was produced with Gimp, which appears to have messed with the color balance a bit.

My first thoughts on the K-3:
Easy to use if you know the K-5. The AF is great so I keep a lot more pics than before; so I'm happy because that's the main reason I buy it for.

So here my first impressions coming back from D7100 ...

I feel the auto focus didn't change much since K-7.... (except of course the 27 points total) ...
but the auto focus itself... well ... no comment yet... I have to take more pictures especially
with lens that use that SDM focus

Beside that I knew Pentax for his robust body... glad they still kept it solid like a tank.

Here I took
(one at iso 1600, one at 3200 for each 3 basic prime lens, same aperture, handheld)
Directly in jpeg, reduced to 1200px in picasa directly.. nothing fancy.. just to see quickly.
(AF is in AF-S auto 27, I tried to keep the middle red dot on the word of Cappucino on the big cup
dunno if it matter but anyway... its really quick test... next time will do a Select point focus test)

First few hours with the K3.
WOW.
I could get very used to the burst mode!!!!
Focus-locking is amazing!!!
I have the Original K5 and the K3 is looking amazing next to it.

Here are some shots of a local splash-pad today.











My grip will be here on Monday, and using burst mode definitely eats up power.
I absolutely adore my K5, and it's hard for me to switch loyalty, but the K3 might just eat it's lunch in terms of performance and IQ - which it's *supposed* to do I guess!

Not too cool having to see the "Ricoh" name every time I look down at my LCD. I know I said it wouldn't really matter to me, but it does.

I will give it a few more days before I tape it over or leave it be.
