Very nice!

I need to get up there myself. Strange how hard it is to visit the amazing places in one's own country.

This time with F 100mm 2.8 Macro. f5.6, 1/180 iso 400. Metz AF50 at 1/8 power manual. I set the camera on a tripod, focused on an area where the bats funnel through as they move from their perches to the beach and over the water. This was the best shot. I need more depth of field, there were some nice poses but just out of focus. The field of view was pretty good, was able to capture quite a few. If I move closer I will lose that and also the depth of field will narrow. They seem consistent in their habits, so another try.

Any suggestions welcome.

Does anybody have experience shooting in extremely cold conditions? How does the camera behave with not weather sealed (adapted manual) lens? I'm going to be using it in the European arctic.

How cold? Last winter I used my K-3 with kit lens at -10C without any problems.

@Kaasparas - I use my K-3 in the winter routinely down to -30C and colder. One thing you will notice is that LCDs do not like very cold weather. They are slower to react and after a while start to dim so much that it is hard to see the screen. But as long as you feed the K-3 power, it will keep on chugging. Batteries do not last as long in the cold so best to keep spares in your parka pocket. There was a thread on cold weather operation of the K-3 last winter. Try a search for it.

I've used it in -15C with no lens at all and had no issues. In fact the low temperatures help noise levels

I have used it for night sky photo during -25 degrees C and have had no problem. These new LiOn batteries are not so sensitve to the coold as NiMH was. Used one battery during two days in sub 20 C and took more than 500 pics. Never used my spare.

A Milkweed and Blackberry patch across the gravel lane certainly
helps finding some willing subjects. Our Swallowtails are finally here. No tigers yet though.
