Using the K-3 as a test bed, I resurrected my 10 year old 18-55mm kit lens and took the shot of this lady full length. I did not like the result, so I cropped to about 1/9 th for just a portrait style. Because of the lighting at this provincial fair, I admit to doing a bit of processing in Lightroom 5 and removing luminance noise, moving to Perfect Photo Suite 8 for a bit of touch up, and then back to LR to export it as a jpg. Wanting to insure focus then, I selected the f6.3. I now see I used a smaller aperture than was really necessary and, had I opened it up some, could have lowered the ISO and cut down on the noise. NEXT TIME.

Impressive shots. I just shot an event at the museum and struggle to get good pictures above ISO 1000. Perhaps i have to train my PP skills for high ISO. Do you have any tips or recommandations for high ISO event shootings?

This is one of mine. Itīs ok, but its only ISO 1250.

Arne - I think your's looks good. Colors are nice and exposure seems fine.

For high ISO (In PP) I move the blacks to the left and highlights to the right. I leave clarity alone because it introduces more noise. For sharpness, I move the slider to about 55, and radius to about 1.3, Luminescence noise reduction to about 15 and masking to about 93. Exposure is the key though. Don't be afraid of noise. It's part of the experience. Make sure it's correct ahead of time.

ISO 10,000 - this guy was in a dark corner most of the night and after PP this is probably closer to ISO 16,000 (or more). He's a little soft but at least I got the shot. I was actually surprised that the K3 was able to focus on him.

Hi john5100! Long time no see! How would you compare the K-3 to the K-5 for low light concert photography? Is the K-3 as good as the K-5 in low light?
