some photos with my K3

Well, since I had to stay indoors for a bit I played with my lovely K3 and some poms from my trees as well as some seed pods I found last year. I do love this camera.

Seconding this. Both the K-3 and K-5 can work OK in low-light, and produce good results, but the K-3 AF is more reliable.
The K-5II/s gives the best of both worlds, better focusing than the K-5 and better noise control/dynamic range than the K-3. The K-3 has a lot going for it but I sold mine and am trading in my 18 month old K-5II for a new K-5IIs.

I would love to have a full frame camera because of the extra ISO but the size and weight of the K5 and K3 works well. I think these are pretty clean for ISO 4000 pushed to ISO 5000 and ISO 6400 respectively. I like the K3 and I would be surprised if the K5 is much better.

That's really well done. I like the way you caught the light beams. And the velvety darks.

Many thanks mariakruse. The light and conditions were a complete surprise at this location, and lasting only a few minutes until the wind arrived.

Poms and the Bosque

Wanted to see if photos I took at the Bosque would work as a background for some pom seeds. And one just on velvet for fun.

I thought I would share this photo of my son from camping -- it is the sort of photo I would have struggled to get prior to the K3 -- really low light for the camera to focus in. Shot with the DA *55 at f1.4 iso 10,000 and 1/30 second exposure. Not a great photo, but nice to know you can "go there," if you need to.

That's low-light! Look at the wide-open pupil.
Nice result.
