Hi the shots are great, just noticing some purple fringe on the hb beak and seeds in the squirrel shot.

Reminds me of a Tamron I have that has a propensity for purple fringing.

If you have a post process tool like Lightroom they have tools to eliminate it.
Thanks

Got Lightroom 5 in a couple weeks ago, but it doesn't run on Vista (the computer been nearly trouble free for 7 yrs, why change) so now I had a excuse to order a new laptop, which has among other cool features, a 4K Ultra HD 15" screen
It'll be here in a week or so. Been using the RAW+ option, so have saved the RAW files to do PP when I'm set up for it. Have been working with SilkyPix with some success, hoping Lightroom is a lot better.

Cross posted from Post Your Photos and The Yard Bird thread.

The most popular feeder today was an old tree I cut down, then rescued from the fire pit, where it could have been a fine member of the bonfire team. I drilled a few holes to put suet in and hung it up. I later learned to make a paste type suet for it... vegetable shortening, canola oil, peanut butter, wheat flour and corn meal. Today it was the second most popular thing going. The other popular one, also one I made was pretty popular with the smaller birds, not so much with the wood peckers, and the Redpolls don't use the commercial feeders I paid good money for at all, preferring the food to be laid out buffet style in a flat surface, my hanging birdhouse type feeder or the ground works for them.

For all the others the homemade suet feeder was the big thing...

The chickadees stop in occasionally, although the black oil sunflower seed dispensers are still their main thing.

Male Hairy Woodpecker at the post

Female hairy Woodpecker at the post.. (no red on her head).

Red Breasted Nuthatch

The White Breasted Nuthatch likes the post both right side up...

But it's just as good upside down.

Or Horizontal

The one I paid the most for sits pretty much un-used.

Darn birds don't know what real quality is.

This is the one the bear took down and ripped apart. That's black "steel" epoxy holding it together.

Here it is in happier days...

Normhead,

I love nuthatches. They are the coolest looking birds around. Everything about them says "I'm cool and I know it.'.

K3 + Sigma 150-500mm. The photograph was taken on a bird of prey photography workshop at a local falconry centre.

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi Simon! I think the image is a little whashed out. I tried to work it out in photoshop adding vibrance and a little contrast. I like what came out. The black was not very deep. The PS info on the pupil shows a little too high. Also, since the feather highlights are kinda blueish, I also tried to add some photo filter like the 85. I think a stronger look matches with the subject (aggressive) better.

I prefer the original, this version looks un-natural to me. The feathers at the back look magenta.
(Its an eagle not a parrot ) You are working on a calibrated monitor?

Original looks correct, and is a great shot.

Hogsback waterfall in Ottawa at night. Hard to find a good vantage point for photos, always some scrub in front of it. I had hoped these would have turned out a little better than they did, but it was very poorly lit and too cold out to spend too much time on it! Post processed in Rawtherapee.

f5.6 30 second exposure

f8 100 second exposure

Crop of the previous... still working on my raw editing skills!
