Very cool old stone house. Well captured as well. Looks like gray Chilton limestone from Wisconsin. Paint the roof fascia, install a few windows and you will have an historic bread-n-breakfast!

Nice shot of a unique house.

I'd love to restore an old place like that, maybe if they gave me the place, plus about a half million dollars.

Well, if the limestone is veneer six inches thick, the bad roof may have erased the wood framed walls behind them. On the other hand, if the masonry is load bearing, gut the interior, grin, and try not to pull down the center bearing wall. I agree, Norm. It would be fun to restore and your cost estimate is about 75% of likely costs. The center tower appears to be clapboard siding with outside corner boards and wood bric-a-brac in standard Midwestern Carpenter Gothic style. I am guessing that the River is below the sloping backyard. Driline can you tell us? Davenport is a cool town.

Oh well, just noticed the Orange dumpster in front yard. Somebody beat us to it.

The river is actually about 5 blocks in front of the house. My office building sits on 3rd street and the house is about 2 blocks North.

Couple recent ones I like...

Pentax-M 200mm f/4, probably at f/8 or so

Samyang 35mm f/1.4, wide open for 8 seconds. First time I have been able to nail focus on the stars with this lens or its 85mm sister, so I'm thrilled I was able to do so.

I suspect the repair cost might even exceed the replacement cost. Old houses have a habit of revealing things overlooked or unanticipated during restoration by unexpected developments.

"Quoth the raven, Nevermore." Great shot of the crow. One of my personal favorite birds.

Jeepers. People pay to ride on one of those. Why not shack up in a tiny hotel somewhere in downtown Manhattan? Lots and Lots more opportunities/choices for dining, movies, live entertainment, museums, shopping, everything. A hypercrowded city on the seas. A bedroom the size of a bathroom, less that half what you'd get at a modestly-priced hotel/motel. PAY to be a captive consumer. NOT for me.

Oh, and by the way, impressive display of photo-skill.
