Not fair to ground swat. They must flush and fly.

1/13 of a second hand held. I imagine the SR helped me get this one!

A wildflower in the Giraween National Park, south east Queensland, Australia, a couple of weekends ago. This is one of the last shots taken with my beloved DA*300 f4 before I dropped it on a rock and killed it. Waiting for the insurer's response.

That is terrible Adrian. Good luck with the repair/replacement.

Like both the shots. The first gives me the sense of an atmosphere of calm. Love the colour of the flowers in the second.

Interesting background in that first shot.

Nice job!

I looked at the full size and the subject is sharp!

Shooting at 18mm didn't hurt your chances either, heh heh. but the SR certainly did it's thing.

Oh, that's bad. Sorry to hear about this. It's one of the lenses I use the most and I truly like it. Hopefully everything will go fast concerning the insurance and you'll get a new one soon.

Thanks Eric! Yeah, the 18mm is much easier to shoot these kind of shots at.

Still working on my pan. K3+tamron 17-50mm I think. From a track event I shot for some friends who were racing that day

Taughannock Falls in the Finger Lakes region of New York. A few miles north of Ithaca. There are a lot of waterfalls in the area left over from the Ice Age. The falls themselves are 215 feet (65.5 meters) tall. Hard day to get a good photo. Very high contrast situation. I need to get back there on a cloudy and preferably rainy day.

Thanks... Both shots were done late in the afternoon... Things look different at this time of the day - I simply love the late afternoon kind of light.

Excellent 2nd shot... BTW It looks like you have slight yellow cast or maybe is just my screen or your PP.

My guess on the yellow tint is that it is related to the time of day the photos were shot. Nature photographers used to call the first and last two hours of sunlight the golden hours for a reason. The color temperature of sunlight at that time if day is warmer than at noon. This is caused by the longer path of sunlight through the atmosphere. More blue light from the sun is scattered while the longer wavelength red light continues to plow right on through. Or as I learned in physics. The big read firetruck verses the little blue Volkswagon. Which one can plow through a brick wall easier while remaining intact?

We called those early/late hours the "sweet light." Most people respond more positively to slightly warmish colors. Also, shadows tend to be softer when the sun is low (direct evening & morning sun is somewhat less intense relative to the sky glow.).
