AMEN to that comment, or observation. Note the focus on the bird (last photo in his second post) is also perfect.

Gorgeous...

For my part, the K3 & I (and the wife) just got back from a holiday to San Francisco and Seattle. Walking in the woods in Washingtone state one morning I found this guy and took one of my favourite photos from the trip. The longest lens I had on me was the DA 70mm and I think it did very well, amazing if you consider this was wide open. I think a longer lens would have lost the sense of the environment we were in.

Cross-posted to the DA Ltd thread.

A heavy crop shows just how good the lens is:

A medieval mosaic in a church in Istanbul. Essentially the entire ceiling in central area as well as the hallways and entryway are covered by mosaics. K3 & Sigma 17-70

I like the form of the old mosaics from churches. This one looks like it has been restored with paint and has some missing tiles.

Can anyone read the long inscription at the top. I am having trouble, not being familiar enough with the modifications of the Greek alphabet evident here, and the ancient absence of gaps between words. Also, interesting to note the name Jesus and the title Christ are represented only by the first and last letter and a line across the top to indicate the contraction.

Hagia Sophia? One of the most incredible buildings I've ever been in.
