Hi I am a new member to PentaxForums (long time Pentax owner though) and this is my first post. I am just back from a two week safari in Ruaha and Selous, Tanzania, with 4 500 RAW photos taken with my new Pentax K-3 and Sigmas zoom 50-500/4,5-6,3. I attach three photos uncropped, all were taken handheld from the jeep and with OS in the lens.
Lion male, ISO400, f=500 mm, f/6,3, 1/200s
Water buffalo, ISO400, f=330, f/14, 1/250s
Vervet monkey, ISO400, f=113, f/9, 1/640s

Welcome to the forum, and wonderful images! I'm looking forward to seeing more. Is that turquoise bit under the monkey what I think it is and, if so, why is it turquoise?

Yes it is nuts is it not? Tried to shed some light on the reason for the bright blue color and ran across this article: Are testicles external for cooling, galloping, display, or something else?
On p 2 it is argued that it is "a signal important in intergender communication". Not conclusive though.

Thanks for feedback on the photos!

Nice, Painter. That is Mt Baker on the left so are those the Amtrac rails near White Rock? The ties look too decrepit for an active line, though. Maybe the remnants of the old track that ran from the valley out west to Richmond?
