I think it's due to the age of pixel peeping allowing people to see noise when they zoom in at 200x on HD displays. I admit a bit of pixel peeping myself, but I'm also a fan of Auto ISO with the max set to 6400 or even 12800 if it's dark enough. I would rather have fine grained noise that I can mitigate in post than motion blur from too slow of a shutter speed!

Here's an image that has a little bit of noise, but no motion blur except the moving trucks.
