Sorry to be negative but I don't understand why people are afraid to use high ISO on the K3. I always shoot at high ISO when shooting weddings and concerts and it does fine...
I think it's due to the age of pixel peeping allowing people to see noise when they zoom in at 200x on HD displays. I admit a bit of pixel peeping myself, but I'm also a fan of Auto ISO with the max set to 6400 or even 12800 if it's dark enough. I would rather have fine grained noise that I can mitigate in post than motion blur from too slow of a shutter speed!

Here's an image that has a little bit of noise, but no motion blur except the moving trucks.

I agree there is too much pixel peeping these days. It took awhile for me to get used to shooting at higher ISOs when I got my K3. However now I rarely care about the ISO and watch my aperture and shutter speed more closely.
ISO 2000 with the Sigma 50-500 500mm f8 1/200

Carol I am humbled by your compliment. In fairness this was a captive eagle in a cage. My most difficult challenge was not getting the bars to show up in the image. I was fortunate enough to be there when the sun was behind me and to the side. The sun was nice enough to go behind a cloud when I took the photo.
Here is something out of the woods. This Black-capped Chickadee flew onto a branch just as I was leaving. I had just enough time to snap a few shots. This is where modern technology really counts. This was shot at 500mm, f8, ISO 1600, and 1/100 handheld. Back in the days of film I would have never got this shot handheld. Burst mode on the K3 can be a really great thing.

Regardless of where the eagle was, still a stunning shot!

I agree, the burst mode on the K3 is wonderful, especially for wildlife; as your cute Chickadee photo shows! I love those little birds, very distinctive call, and very friendly.

A BIF from the film days - scan from a chrome. Cannot remember what lens or camera I was using, although likely a ZX5n

I got my K-3 and the DA 55-300mm right before my vacation last week. I think this is the best picture I got.

ISO 12800 AFA 1.7x, DA 55-300 @ 300mm = 510mm

All I can say about this shot is WOW! Manual focus because f/5.8 x 1.7 = f/10.44 and the AF just won't kick in in this lighting.

Hand held. SR on at 500 mm
K3 + AFA 1.7x + DA 55-300 (510 mm)
TAv ISO 12800
1/500" @ f/11

Thank you for you kind words Carol, they are much appreciated . Another Sigma 50-500 OS HSM shot. Great Blue Heron having a meal. 500mm f9 1/100 ISO 100. Optical stabilization is a great thing.

To supplement or go along with the night shots being posted by zzeit, the first two @ ISO 6400, the third @ ISO 25600 (the "ghosts" at lower right in the last image are because of using HDR)

Cairns hotel balcony, DA21 ISO 1600 accidentally giving a pleasing over exposure.
