I agree; I'm very impressed with it!

Rondec; I really like that image! Portrays vastness, and perhaps loneliness!

Thank you, Carol. I had thought about doing a black and white version, but like the muted colors here.

I also think the muted colors do it more justice than B&W!

Green darner. Hard to make these stand out against background foliage. K3 and either 90 Tokina or 200 Pentax macro.

That is really impressive! I have yet to get even a decent dragonfly, darner, or damselfly that I like. I've been trying for years. I think that maybe the 55-300 and K3 might be able to do it. Maybe. Lots of maybe.

Recommendation: The 55~300 works quite well with a Canon 500D close-up filter (58mm for the 55~300) which reduces the focus distance to 1/2 meter when the lens is set @ infinity. Use a small aperture (I would recommend f11) and an intermediate focal length for the zoom (125~225mm) and the results for something the size of a dragonfly can be very satisfying.

Really nice shots, esp the 1st BW. Well done.
Thanks for the kind words. The beach shot is my favorite of them too.

I have actually come closest with a 50mm extension tube behind the M 400/5.6. I get a 5x9 inch field of view at about 9 feet. It's a bear to focus, of course, but I've been practicing with that particular lens since the early 1980's.
