Just upgraded from a K-50 to a K-3. Hopefully I am worthy of such a fine camera.

Got a feeling this thread might slow down a bit now that the K-1 is shipping...

Perhaps. I still have a fair store of unposted images taken with my K3, and it may remain my long-distance travel camera because there are several lenses specific to it that may give better IQ with the greater pixel density of the K3 than the crop mode of the K1 (8~16 and 18~250 Sigmas, 10~17 fish-eye for example)

Walt, you need to get the DFA 15-30! Beware though as it's a heavy beast. On second thought maybe the 28-105 would a better walk around lens.

I like the K-1 for a walking around with a lighter lens. I don't need a grip as it fits my long fingers just right.

I did get a 28~105 with the K1, but that's nothing as a walk-around compared to either the Sigma 18~250 or even the Pentax 16~85.

In the early 19 century when the Erie Canal was built in New York state, a smaller spur connecting Cayuga Lake to the Erie Canal was constructed. In doing so it drained a large wetlands on the north end of Cayuga. During the Great Depression it was decided that the wetlands would be restored. So a long berm was built along the canal and the swamp was reestablished.

There is one spot where it drains into the canal and every year Asian Carp (A non native species) try to get into the warmer water of the swamp to breed. If they were to get into the swamp their breeding activities would wreak havoc on the native plant and animals. A weir was built to prevent this. This does not stop them from trying as the warmer water draining from the refuge is a strong draw to them. Shot with my K3 and Pentax 55-300 mm lens.

Well, a 16-85 would be a 24-130 equivalent while a 18-250 would be a 28- 375 equivalent. I think he just means the focal lengths covered are less with the 28-105.
