I don't know how you manage all those great shots with stacked TC's and I envy the results !
Can't even get close to that with just the DA*300/4 + K3 !

It all about having a feeder close to the blinds, and sitting out there while the birds get used to you. Some of these birds won't leave the feeders if I go right out with my 18-135 and walk right up to them. Even a bad lens will produce great results, if you're close.

We constantly overvalue lens quality and under value technique.

Sigma 70-300 from 8 feet away through my Kitchen window. I only recommend this lens to poor people.

That says it all for me !
Thanks Norm.

(( ... and, here I was, thinking that the K3 was the culprit and that I should have never bought it in the first place ...))

You are absolutely right! I checked after I read your post and found out that I have also picture of Great White Trillium and at that point it came to my mind that we have everywhere on Ontario issued documents a logo that pictures exact the same flower.

I am very bad with flowers but like their beauty.

Here is one more shot of the "Trillium grandiflorum"
We have the white and light purple trilliums on a western hillside on our place.

Nice little purple ones...

Here is another flower that blooms at same time as Trillium's, deep in the forest park also no clue what it is...

Locally the trout lilies typically bloom go by before the trillium are fully open.

K3, M400, ISO 1600, my new toy: RH-2 gimbal head

All these taken through a double pane window in the rain and cropped from 6000 px to 1200 more or less. I really like the handling with the gimbal head. Much better than the ball head I've been using since the 1980's.

All four pictures:
K-3, ISO 1600, PEF, M 400/5.6, 1/250@f/5.6 (wide open) shutter speed set with green button. Using Lightroom 6 I increased the exposure by 2/3 stop.

I agree on the gimbal head. Once I mounted my K3 with a Pentax 150-450 lens installed in it on a gimbal head I was hooked. One of mine is a Lensmaster RH-2 like yours. Excellent value for the money. Very smooth and rock solid.

I'm not sure if I like this one or not, interested to get some feedback on it. These are new maple leaves by a street light. I really like them this time of year, they are pretty interesting, illuminated through the street lamps. I don't think I really captured it here, but fun to try.

K3, 3200 ISO

I like the composition but am a little confused by the lighting. The foreground is in focus but in shadow while the background is the opposite. I wonder if it's possible to do the reverse? I'm no expert though, just my feeling.

Iso 4000 example. This is at 1/10 secod so pretty dark.

I just want to demonstrate what the K3 is capable of. This is at full resolution so downsampled to K5 resolution it will look even better.
