Can't even get close to that with just the DA*300/4 + K3 !
It all about having a feeder close to the blinds, and sitting out there while the birds get used to you. Some of these birds won't leave the feeders if I go right out with my 18-135 and walk right up to them. Even a bad lens will produce great results, if you're close.
We constantly overvalue lens quality and under value technique.

Sigma 70-300 from 8 feet away through my Kitchen window. I only recommend this lens to poor people.
