The Raynox are pretty much the best among numerous close-up filters I have, many of which are achromatic (Nikon, Canon, Minolta, etc).
It never leaves my bag. In fact, Flickr tells me that 170 of the 918 photos I have published there used the DCR-250. Probably my single best photographic purchase.

The Raynox was also used for two of the following shots from last weekend. Pretty easy to guess which ones. Pleased as punch by the last one - a second or third instar grasshopper measuring maybe 7-8mm in body length. (X-posted to Show me your insects.)

An outing to Waterton Lakes National Park with K-3

Claire and I drove to Waterton to escape the weather on this side of the Continental Divide. We both took pictures, and here are a few of mine. All with the K-3, assorted lenses. It was a bit windy and cool with lots of Sunday visitors. The last two of the bears were from a "bear jam". The mother didn't seem overly bothered with the crowds until some people with phones and short lenses tried to get a bit too close, when she showed some signs of unhappiness.

Claire on the trail to the top of Cameron Falls with the DA 55-300. f/5.6; 55mm; 1/750" ISO 200.

Two chainsaw carvings on one of the streets with the DA* 16-50 and a Moose Circular Polarizer (has a slight warming filter as well as the polarizer). 19mm 1/90" @ f/4.5 ISO 200.

21mm; 1/10" @ f/11, ISO 200.

A cruise boat on Lower Waterton Lake. DA* 16-50 and Moose polarizer. 19mm, 1/250" @ f/4.5, ISO 200

From the same place, Prince of Wales Hotel with the DA* 16-50. 28mm; f/13, 1/60, ISO 200

Cinnamon Phase Black Bear with twin cubs near the road to Red Rock Canyon with the M 400/5.6 on Manfrotto 055B with LensMaster RG-2 Gimbal head.
1/750 @ f/8, ISO 800

And a closer view of her with just one of the cubs, still with the M 400, just before I retreated to the truck for safety reasons. Cropped to about half frame. 1/250" @ f/11, ISO 800

Thank you for the tour to the Waterton National Park. I enjoyed the series very much, especially the one with the two cubs. Great shot.

I'm not a big fan of bird shots (except the kind LeRolls does) but that ^ is seriously cool!

I should have noted in my last post yes it is nasty graining on purpose... it was shot here.

A new classic car museum opened last weekend in my area and it is full of beautiful cars and bikes. Here are just a few:

There are lots more on my hard drive and I will be going back for even more.
