back at the Kansas City Zoo

trying to photograph their rare Amur Leopard, Panthera pardus orientalis, this one is a really rare female purebred which has already been proven as a " producer"

it is estimated less than 30 of this subspecies of Leopard are left alive in the wild and the other problem is that most of the ones in captivity through out the world are no longer -
purebred

I have only observed it in the rear of the enclosure and today, it started to walk rapidly back and forth. It never looks 100 % toward the front of the enclosure and I have to photograph it through the wire into the shade.

hand held, natural light

Focal Length 450.0mm (35mm equivalent: 675mm)

Exposure Time 1/8s (0.125)
Aperture F/5.6
ISO Equivalent 200

K 3 + 150 - 450 mm zoom

The "tree feet" image really caught my eye, but I like to take images of that kind. Nice set of pictures

Thank you! The nest was right next to the path when we walked in Andasibe-Mantadia national park, Madagascar. Didn't even see it until our guide pointed it out to us

Black Canyon of the Gunnison - Colorado

It was a heavily overcast day, the first day of October, and it was hard to get much contrast on the canyon walls with the few cloud breaks.

The veining on the walls are an infusion of pegmatite dikes through the 1.8 billion year old gneiss that makes up this pluton. The river began cutting this canyon 20 million years ago.

I always say:

"What do I know, not as much as I may claim but more than some people [ including my sisters in law ] give me credit for "
