Love the plump little bird out in the wet. We tend to be sympathetic, even pity the chilly-looking thing, but birds have endured such conditions for tens - correction - hundreds of millions of years.

Just be careful when and how you move. Some birds will leave a nest in a twinkling. Others are very loyal, and most birds will stick to a nest after the young hatch. It's an evolutionary gamble thing: the probability of leaving viable offspring is better if you stick with one you have than if you abandoned it to bet on successfully raising young next year. Because the odds favor sticking to a youngster you have, the majority of birds will do that.

Thanks wpresto. I may have spoke too soon! They disappeared yesterday afternoon, were in the nest at 6am today, but I haven't seen them since. I had visions of cute baby shots too!
