That what happens when you put on a prime for small birds and a big one comes. Unfortunately with primes, the right lens for a Redpoll is not the right lens for a Blue Jay. Unless you're going to do headshots.

Thank you sir! It's all in the hat. Seriously, I use a couple of my wife's fluffy tuques to collect flakes as the snow is falling, and one of them is this dark brown-reddish color. It's probably my best flake photography accessory, precisely because it's what gives the shots that distinctive background color and texture.

focused right on the small post. 17mm. The camera had trouble picking it out and threw the focus into the background. Typical.

Feeder creature , finally some sun.






















That peanut feeder is really popular, sometimes 2 or 3 birds are on it at the same time.
