You guys should know by now, no Pentax camera is ever successful unless it can render the beauty of a handsome squirrel. So get out there and find one, post it here and get the K3 rolling in the right direction early!

Squirrels are in very short supply down under, (and my K-3 has not arrived yet) but I found this for ya....

Some of the crops of eyes etc in this thread seem to point to very impressive detail capture. And anecdotal reports of the AF system sound promising. I also like the "mood" of the tones and colors that it seems to render. But are Pentax only dispatching K3's to wintry, overcast climes, lol?! Has a k3 in the wild actually seen any sun as yet? Not that we here in Melbourne could help even if I had a k3 available today, its a drab morning here too, lol.

Hi,

I've been using my K3 for some Studio Shoot today, it's gorgeous !
All ISO100 with 3 different lenses, Pentax 50-135mm, Sigma 17-70mm HSM and Tamron 90mm Macro.

A quick unedited pic (not part of the final selection) with the Pentax 50-135mm.
This is an amzing shot.
Studio, so well thought and planned ...

Just trying out the reds
People usually complain, inlcuding myself, about the red colour rendition of Pentax cameras.
This shot just made me change my mind.
Good shot !

A great set of photos you have here.

Some 21 ltd and K-3 images….

This image is in camera HDR

Like the K-5, I still like what I can do with a raw file better.

Great! One of my pet peeves about not having R channel metering on my K-5 was that it guesses the reds based on the GB channel metering! I would often find my reds not performing too well, especially in post. So excited to have RGB metering in the k-3.... Paid for one, but they haven't made it to the shores of Australia yet

I agree, the highlights don't look blown, but they likely were before dane.dawg pulled them back in post processing. I had to do the same thing with my bird photos. In the old days (K20D & older) Pentax bodies metered extremely conservatively, rarely blowing highlights. Now they blow highlights regularly, which I don't like, but it decreased the criticism by magazine reviewers and complaints from newbies.
