A couple pics from our camping trip this weekend, 75km of snowshoeing and sleeping in a tent in -25 weather=one very tired man today. If anyone knows what that green fungus is called it would be appreciated.

Not sure of the species but that's no fungus it's a lichen. I'm sure the K3 detail is enough for an expert to identify which one.

k-3 and Low Lights on stage :

All theses shots with the Pentax 50-135mm

This was my worst show in terms of lightning, even 1600 ISO was low and I had to take some good amount of time to denoise theses pictures.

I received my K3 in late December and took it on a holiday to the USA. I was very pleased with how this HDR picture came out.

Took this new lens down to London last week.

Picked it up for a stupidly low price as it was marked broken? spares or repair and I got lucky and have myself a stunning new lens for pennies. Very impressed with its performance. Most of these shots were ISO 3200 or less, all shot handheld with a K3 which also performed amazingly in the museums. A lot of those were down to 1/3 second shutter speeds due to the poor lighting.

British museum, spanning panorama stitch of 6 photos.

3 shot stitch

street walking around london, it was a gloomy day, but even the, the lens and camera could handle it.

Inspired by another thread talking about high ISO, I just now took this image using a K-3 + 50mm f/1.8 kit lens @ f/5.6 @ 1/15th sec (handheld), RAW file processed in DxO Optics Pro v9 with PRIME conversion. Saved as TIFF. Opened in Photoshopt to add text, saved at JPEG (medium). No sharpening.

My take: shooting with Tungsten light is a worse-case scenario. The K-3 did exceptionally well in this test. Natural lighting should be even better.

here is a link to the full-res JPEG file: http://www.haywood-sullivan.com/download/_IMG1141_DxO.text.jpg

Note: the feint blue reflection on the glass tabletop is the dusk skylight coming in through our dining room window.
