Not everyone has visitors like these. South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. K-3 + FA*300 f4.5

We usually get a couple of visits a year.
Used to get them in the tree at the front gate, but not any more. May have something to do with moving to live 80 miles NW of London.

Thanks Grippy. It's kind of a "greatest hits" collection over several years.

The surprising thing, when I look back over them, is how many were taken with the humble DA-L 55-300 (a $A150 lens). When the light is good enough for something like f8 1/640th, and the subject isn't too far away, it's got very good resolution indeed. To get similar results at one extra stop (e.g. f5.6 1/640th) required the FA*300 f4.5, which cost about 5 times as much.

Thanks a lot Ray. What a privilege to have 8 species of parrots (or eight-and-a-half with the hybrid) visit our place.

Flowers with the K-3

Here are a few flowers with the K-3 and the (adapted) Mamiya 645 C 80mm f 4.0 macro lens. I am liking this Mamiya medium format lens on APS-C for both clarity and color fidelity when photographing flowers.
