Did a solo camp trip on the summit of Shelving Rock Mt on the east side of Lake George, NY. last night. Weather forecast called for 80% chance of thunderstorms so I took a chance. Found a nice spot for my hammock near the edge of the 600 foot cliff with a beautiful view of the Adirondack mountains.
After setting up my rain tarp, it poured out. Heavy winds, hail and lightning striking nearby.
Once it cleared, the clouds rolled in but still got a few shots. Brought my K-3 & Pentax-DA 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 ED AL [IF] DC WR. Really wanted to use my Cosina Cosinon Auto 50mm f/1.8-16 but forgot to pack an M-42 adapter.

Posted on another thread.

Picked up this lens (Sigma 75-200 F3.8 Auto Focus lens) as Bargain graded from KEH for $40 shipped including taxes. Pretty sharp lens. K-3 and K-50 reports as F4 from 75-200. Initially it was weird with push pull zoom, but I like it now. Posting some samples taken at 200mm, F4

They wouldn't pose properly as they were amused seeing Weird Humans wearing masks

Here is a sample from Sigma 30mm @ F1.4

Why, when we grow older, do we become so mellow and start to appreciate the simple things in life ?

Regards, Norm !

Sunset at solstice, CANADA. Pentax K3 + DA 55-300 mm f/4-5.8 HD WR @ f/11.

I used the older non-WR DA 55-300 mm lens with a K5 a few years ago and found it not too bad except above 240 mm where it "died". It proved totally inadequate when I got a new K3, so I gave it to my daughter. Not long ago, I purchased for 200 $ this new "used" DA 55-300 mm f/4-5.8 HD WR on eBay from Japan and, frankly, we would say it's a totally different lens from the older version : impressive sharpness all the way to 300 mm on the K3, excellent contrast and lovely colors. I keep it at all times on the K3 now.

A few test photos with my recently-acquired Tokina 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 AF. It's not a great lens. On film it would probably be adequate as an all-rounder but that's it. It also has some spots in the optics and I'm not sure if they're dust or fungus or something else.
