Getting to know each other!

YES! The K3 and I are getting to know each other! Went out today and shot in the same arena as last week. I used a combination of Jbinpg (Jack) suggestions along with shooting speed priority mode (TV). I had the Auto ISO set at 100-3200.

ISOs ranged from 1600 - 2500, shutter speed 1/400-1/500. Aperture normally at f2.8. Shot with the Tamron f2.8 70-200. I also used the flash a bit too which of course changed shutter speed to 1/180 and ISO usually about 800. (None of these were taken with the flash.)

These shots (but for resizing and converting from DNG to JPG) are directly from the camera. I can work with these to clean up the noise and fine tune the lighting in post processing! Very happy with the results. This may work! LOL!

Hi Rick,

nice pics but I wonder why the images are so yellow'ish, was the WB set on Auto ?
My experience with K3's WB is that Auto is just great. I shoot DNG so I dont mind really but usually I prefer the WB from Camera than from Lr5 automode.

A few shots taken recently.

OPen air, nice weather, with Pentax 50-135mm f2.8.

Something different still with the 50-135mm, something that this lens dont like....fast moving object
I was using one of my custom mode for BIF. Auto ISO up to 3200.
Speed 1/800
f5.0
This shot at ISO 320
Max tracking pattern and AF-C with AF button.

Thank you. Truthfully, Indiana isn't the most beautiful place by any means -- particularly not in February, when the snow melts and grey skies move in. But there is beauty everywhere, isn't there?

15mm with DxO 9.1 and photomatix

This was shot with three bracketed exposures hand held. All at f8, ISO 100 1/90s, 1/125s and 1/180s, +1/2EV, +-0EV, -1/2EV. The RAW files were run through Dxo Optics on 'standard' settings and combined in Photomatix and rendered 'natural'. Not too HDRish I think and not bad for hand held.

These masks were in a dark location and I had to use ISO 25,600 for this shot.

Royal BC Museum ISO 6400

The Empress Hotel in Victoria BC - ISO 3200

The Empress Ceiling - ISO 1000
