Some great shots here folks! The K-3 is acquitting itself quite well, and the photogs are good too, of course!

HDR panorama shot with the HD Da20-40mm @ 34mm and f8 ISO 100. 11 grouped 5 shot bracketed exposures resulting in 11 Photomatix HDR images processed identically (and minimally) and then photomerged in Photoshop CS6. Obviously the resolution at 1280 pixels width is not great. I don't have any online facility to post higher res images. Any suggestions welcome.

The lens arrived today, and so far is proving a superb landscape lens.

Thanks!

Not quite but almost. I had my monopod on it's lowest setting.

A little more of the DA*300+ Pentax 1.4x TC combo

Great Shots! Especially the phez in the garden, love it.

Tonight after work I was trying to set the fine focus on my DA*300 DA 1.4x TC and all of a sudden the birds went silent around the property. For 2 years I have been trying to get a decent look at a Cooper's hawk that has been taking birds from my feeder. Finally got lucky and was able to not only get a good look at it but get a shot of it with the DA*300 DA 1.4x TC.

With the DA 1.4x tc on the DA*300mm I find that I am able to shoot into brush and woods where the branches would previously cause the spot focus to go on the branches instead of the target. It sometimes still hunts a bit more but all in all am very pleased with the results. This was at least 40 yards from me.

However I also find that I still use my DA*300 by itself a lot. I used it this morning with the new snowfall.

Some first shots with the K-3

I'm getting acquainted with the K-3 after spending the last three years with my K-x. I really loved (still love) my K-x; it's the little dslr that could. But I also have to say that I really love what this K-3 can do. The frames per second and autofocus do wonders for action/sports photography. I have kids, so it's nice to have a camera that can keep up and maybe even stay a little bit ahead. I'm also happy to now have a grip, which was not an option on the K-x. I actually like having a little more to hold onto. Anyway, here are a few early returns with the K-3. These first two are straight from the camera through Aperture. No PP other than the slightest of WB on the picture of my son Matt. The pale gold of these sunlit trees, for example, is right on the money. I know we had to wait for Apple to catch up with the K-3, but methinks the wait was worth it.

And some of the aforementioned action, courtesy of my nephew's baseball game, with the DAL 55-300:

There's still plenty I'm figuring out, but I'm really excited about this K-3!
