Working today with the DA*60-250… some serious cropping going on here.
1600 ISO, grainy but bearable, F4, Shutters from 1/40 - 1/60, too slow for these birds. But I got a few.

Noise Smoise

If you notice the noise you have a boring picture. I wouldn't worry about grainy noise like that. That is a Rick Sammon phrase by the way.

Hi Norm.

Those images are really good, even with the grainy "noise".
Considering that you have them "seriously cropped", to me, this type of grain gives a soul to the pics, and is more than "bearable" as you suggest.

I do have a question though: at ISO 1600, would all of the pics taken show this type of grain ?
I thought that it wouldn't show as much at up to ISO 2400-3200 but then again the details are still very well kept.

Cheers!

I've posted the images without applying any noise reduction so you can see what the camera gives you from RAW.. you'll notice there is quite a bit of variation from image to image with the Blue Jay having the most pronounced noise. It's nothing a bit of noise reduction can't handle…

My gut feeling is this is about the same as my k-5 at 3200 ISO, but I haven't actually done any comparisons.
