K3 and DA21

Just a few shots from a brief walk just after getting the K3 and DA21. The last shot was with the kit 18-135.

Shots at S.E.A Aquarium ..

Felt that the Live View of the K3 is excellent.. Totally loving it.. Manual Focus with Focus peaking.. Shiok! Felt as fast as K01.

Playing with the DA*300 to examine K-3 cropability. Who needs mega-zooms when you have 24MP

All images displayed at 615px wide since that's the actual width of the last image when cropped at 200%. 1/800, f8, ISO 250, handheld.

Original field of view (pixel size was 6016x4000 px):

Cropped for composition:

approx 100% crop:

approx 200% crop (actual image - 615x409 px. All that I was left with after cropping so heavily ):

Just purchased the K3 an hour ago after a night of very little sleep and much decision making I went from K20, to K01 (which I will keep) to the K3, a little bit of a learning curve but loving this camera so far! First few shots with my tamron adaptall 300 f5.6

Long View Landscape Shots

Not seen many shots of wide/long range landscape shots on this thread as yet. Perhaps it's the limitations of the maximum file size that's keeping them out of the public eye. Anyway here's a shot I took this morning with the K-3 and Sigma 50mm 1.4 EX HSM. 1/60th sec f8.0 ISO 100. Brought in through DCU5 and then toned in CS6. No additional sharpening or noise reduction (not that you'd expect to need any NR on an ISO 100 shot).

This camera has a learning curve, not just in execution in the field but even more so in PP. Definitely learning that less is more, particularly in terms of sharpening. Perhaps I should have sharpened the 'for web' version a bit more. But take my word for it the detail the K-3 picks up with a lens of this quality is exceptional.

Thanks!
I could do a 400% crop, showing just the eye, but I think 200% works well enough to illustrate some good levels of detail and sharpness in the K-3, which will make cropping K-3 images very useful sometimes. Probably if I'd used a tripod, the image would have been even more usable.
