Thanks! Just now getting to feel confident with pp'ing the K-3 files after almost four months of shooting with it. I can understand jpeg shooters not liking the "noisy" K-3 output but the raws are just as malleable as previous Pentax models.

Personally, I never save photos in JPEG. Simply, it's not logical for me.

Auto-TAK 55/2 (1958 version), Olympic Mountains, WA., low clouds with a sun break. Dug this old lens out and thought I would give it a spin on the K-3...pleasantly surprised. 1/60, f/8, ISO-100, spot meter. Tripod, mirror up, IR remote.

First pictures with K3

Hi all

Lots of family pictures I wouldn't normally share ... but so far, I have to say, I'm blown away by how easy it is to get good pictures out of this camera.

This picture of Tommy was taken with built in flash at 70mm with Sigma (f4) at ISO400.

Can't really appreciate detail when shrunk down from raw to such a tiny jpg ... but loving it.

Others taken with the DA*60-250 as slow as 1/10th (60mm) and 1/125 at 80mm without SR are staggeringly crisp (similar to the cat picture). I didn't think you could hold 2kg+ of lens and camera and shoot at those shutter speeds with any hope of a decent result.

Anyway ... off to Paris soon ... will takes some stills both hand held and with my new Benro TA II A2682TB1 and post them with links to full resolution copies.

Cheers

Paul.

The crop

Can't get over the detail around the left eye and the moisture on the nose :-)

A couple of images from the last week, one is my A-400, one is the DA* 60-250 with the 1.7 TC... so should be about 425.. it'll be 450 in the exif... so there'd be no confusion and because there is no 425 to select... I'm pretty happy with both.... The difference is, with the AF on the 1.7 TC, I get a lot more pictures to choose from than I would with the hand focussed A-400.

Thank you Sinister. You seem to nail every shot you take from what I've seen. They say it's the photographer that makes an image successful, but in my case it definitely at least 99% the camera.
