We had an ice storm (follow up three inches of snow here). Fortunately didn't lose power, but it sure is pretty.

And a shot of my doggy, asking me when spring is coming...

2 birds shot today using k3+DA*300

Both shots are beautiful. I really like the contrast of the first bird against the plain background. Excellent focus also.

Hey, we here in the frozen north thrive in this weather!
We don't envy you one bit
Really
World filled with ice and snow, 40+ days below 0 F (-18 C), dark ... cold... so cold...
Ok, maybe some of us need a break

PS. Great birdie pics!

Aye I agree and am ready for a break! And also agree Great Bird pictures!!

Look forward to when this guy stops filling in the end of my driveway with snow

Sunday the high was -4F, -11F when I left the house and spent 9 hours driving down to the Iowa border across to Wisconsin and up the East side of the Mississippi river looking for Golden Eagles before they head back to Northern Ontario. Saw 2 hawks first ones in months and 3 Bald Eagles but no shots except for a lone wild turkey. At least the tom had a decent beard.

Just a little bit further out of reach than I wished, and not the first time. It was enough to convince me to pre-order the 1.4X tc when I got home.

Great pictures, well done!

About 3 weeks ago near the Park Office at Gooseberry. Lower end of the river with Lake Superior in the background.

Later in the day up in Grand Marais, gulls on the shelf ice in the harbor. A week later coming back down the Gunflint Trail across the Sawtooth Mountains the lake was frozen solid as far as the eye could see. First time in decades the worlds largest freshwater lake has frozen solid.

Spent 4 nights and 5 days at the end of Gunflint Trail on Gunflint Lake. From the center of the lake North is Western Ontario, Canada. The 18-135 used here did OK but with the current Pentax lens sale took a chance and ordered the DA*16-50 this morning.

A well camoflauged snowshoe hare.

And a new bird for me the Pine Grosbeak
Male

Female

The picture I posted a couple of pages back of the deer looking in the window at the dog was also at the cabin.

Just thought I would share a couple of other shots from during/after the ice storm we had.

The first one was shot at iso 4000 and feels to me like it has pretty good detail/lack of noise for that.

I was at the hamburg harbour with a friend to practice shooting a human being. I´m a slow photographer at the moment, still learning my first dslr, so i´m thankful in having some patient friends.
Later i was shooting the family of a friend. And working with kids is a whole other story. It was chaos but fun. (i cannot show fotos of the kids, sorry for that)

Nice shots, Arne! Always like to see Hamburg, where I spent two pleasant years.
