Nice picture but did you use Graduated filter on the top? Too dark for my taste on this one...

Red-backed Fairy-wrens. A female and two males. One male (red and black) in full mating colours (first shot), but the other in 'eclipse' (second shot) which is brown and bit scrappy and somewhat like the female.

Ipswich, Queensland, Australia. Yesterday.

K-3, DA*300 f4, HD 1.4x RC, Rogue Safari flash extender

A combination of K-3 with Helios 44-2. I am impressed with the contrast on that flower considering the conditions.

Love the results the K3 is producing. Here is my shot of the Miss Hooters contest winner in the pageant held in Katy Texas on April 2. This is an event photo - not a studio shot. 50mm f1.4FA lens at f10 and 1/125th with two Flashpoint 320m monolights and softboxes.

Was the pop up, on camera flash, used as a fill, or did you use an external unit? Even with that much lens you had to be pretty close to those birds to get those shots.

Vance Joy
K3 and DA* 16-50mm
1/50 at F2.8 and ISO 3200

Very difficult shoot with LOW light and heavily back lit. K3 and DA* 16-50mm was so great in those conditions.

Look at the dynamic range in the last one. It was dark as heck with great big spotlights flooding the crowd and I was able to capture it all without blowing out the spotlights.

The first image in the first post seems to have suffered from a motion blur or a missed focus. The rest of the images look good. What were your settings for the first set of images ? In my experience 16-50 is too soft wide open around 50 mm.
