Storm clouds rolling in at Tamarama Beach Wednesday 29 April 2015. K-3 + DA 18-135 WR.
Tamarama is only a small beach and is the next beach south from the famous Bondi Beach.

That's pretty cool looking. (And I'm not a big 18-135 fan either).

Thanks. Well, I am quite a fan of that lens. I really like it and I needed its WR that day.

Psychology of where you grew up: A beach, then another beach, one of them smaller, but having grown up on Long Island , NY, I think of a beach as a continuous thing, along the entire coast, mile after mile after mile as far as the eye can see in either direction; Impossible to walk the length of it. Separately named beaches were owned by towns that bordered the coast - their start and end marked perhaps by a flag or sign on a post stuck in sand. Also, I think of a beach as something that is to the south. Imprint of where you grew up is hard to shake.

My guess on the yellow tint is that it is related to the time of day the photos were shot. Nature photographers used to call the first and last two hours of sunlight the golden hours for a reason. The color temperature of sunlight at that time if day is warmer than at noon. This is caused by the longer path of sunlight through the atmosphere. More blue light from the sun is scattered while the longer wavelength red light continues to plow right on through. Or as I learned in physics. The big read firetruck verses the little blue Volkswagon. Which one can plow through a brick wall easier while remaining intact?
I was thinking that too as shoots are taken at 5pm but still... Anyway, the 2nd one is excellent shot.

Drool...

That's me, drooling over the lens...not the dog drooling.

Great colors and rendering. They were getting it right 37 years ago!

Makes you wonder how many lenses back in the day didn't get a fair shake because of lousy 1hr processing, poor focusing technique, etc.

Today, we can pixel peep, chimp after every shot as if we had a polaroid back, and usually know right away why a picture isn't up to scratch, and many times it is not the hardware.

TFS,
Eric

Wow, Chris. Excellent compo. Did you by chance try a few different angles? I wonder how one taken from a lower angle and closer to the dog would look?

Interesting, Thanks.
What about the articulating arm holding the flash, where is that from?

John.
