Spring Fling

Our deer are enjoying the spring thaw. These two photos of a familiar fawn in our front yard kicking up her heels were shot with the DA*200. Focus was AFA-27 point and kept up with her antics pretty well, although both images do suffer from lost focus on her eyes. The playfulness of our deer friends in this weather is amazing and very fun to view. There were no other shots of these antics because I did not have the camera set to burst. Live and learn, eh?

Norman, with your two pictures, it's pretty easy to see the differences; thanks for posting them. I'll go read that discussion now.

Some more of the locals, I really do need something new to take pictures of...

Today with the K-3 Sigma, 70-300 @300mm. I was close enough to be in macro range for many images, and I had lots of misses due to too narrow DoF.

1000 ISO ƒ7.1, AV

I had a business trip to downtown Chicago this weekend to shoot at the International Housewares expo and took some time to work on a project I've had in mind for a while. Its similar to the idea of a one lens challenge, but its a one shutterspeed challenge. I love the look of long-ish shutter of moving people so I opted for 1/4 second. Not all of them worked with that so there are a few that I cheated on, mostly because there was a cool composition that I liked with no moving elements to it (no need for the long shutter), but mostly tried to hand hold a 1/4 second shutter for this project. They are all toned to monochrome and square crop.

K3, da 55-300, iso 1600

All corrections enabled. This is a 1:1 crop of the original JPEG photograph. I am constantly astonished at the powerhouse the K3 is. The DA 55-300 for a chepie is no slouch either.

Nice shots, Carol!

For me, it's still pretty exciting to look up and notice an eagle flying around. We never used to see them around here. It's becoming more and more common. The only bad thing is I worry for my cats.
