Along the coast of Iceland on a heavily overcast day. The spire at right and the arch are offshore.

Tried a star trail last night with the DA15. My view over the lake doesn't lend itself well to it, a lot of light pollution! Regardless, it makes for an interesting end result. The K3 didn't want to do this in camera, so I used starstax, then some editing in the gimp. Both of these have a separate base image merged in to try to get a little more range out of the lake.

You make good results with the DA*200 and the two TC combo. I love my 200 but have not purchased a TC yet. Your results have convinced me to do so. Well done, Norm.

Very well done. I like the bridge as a leading line. The image has an air of mystery that is great.

The 1.4 is a no brainer, it gives you 280 and ƒ4 almost like having a 300 ƒ4 but better. You have ƒ2.8 when you want it. If I were going for 2, I think I'd try two stacked 1.4 so I kept full AF. I don't know how it would work so I'm not recommending until someone has tried it.

I didn't realize it was so cold in April. The lake looks frozen. Thank you for sharing Is that the norm there? I mean I hear about the snow in the east coast couple of weeks ago and seeing the news on earth quakes in my home country got me a little concerned about things But I guess the future is bright for pentaxland.
By the way I am happy for all of you who have been waiting for the FF Pentax. Just few more days. Congrats
Turns out, it is still frozen! It looks very similar to the week before, but way less snow cover. There's just a fine line of water in a shallow spot that's opened up. It's pretty variable when the ice goes out in lakes around here, one good storm and I bet it will break up.

Wish I was waiting for a FF - one day, maybe later this year!

I had a 1.4 converter and thought it not at all worth the 400 bucks I spent on it. Tried it on my Bigma 50/500 and my 70/200 so so results at best. I may have been doing something wrong though because the guy I sold it to and lots of other guys say they work great.

Turns out it's more fun just to shoot closer stuff anyway. .

Fireplace area and exteriors of traditional Icelandic homes, which have stone lower walls, sod roofs over wooden supports and a few windows at the gable end. The area behind the fire pit was very dark, but the K3 managed to pick up some details. The day was heavily overcast with occasional drizzly rain, so natural light was very soft and diffused. Wonder if structures like these inspired Hobbiton.
