I've altered my K-3 preset so it uses about 1/4 the sharpening of my old K-5 preset. Tess got on my case about it, I was procrastinating. After all, what's little over sharpening amongst friends? Usually when you nail a K-3 image, it needs very little sharpening. I'm down to about 10% sharpening and 10% definition. Usually if I want "sharper looking", definition works better than actual sharpening. Creating the impression of sharpening without the artifacts.
Excellent. Well, I liked your images before, but - honestly - the new approach is light years better. The images more than stand up to the reduced sharpening.

Intriguing view. I've often wondered how to best capture that construction crane assembly - you've got it, I think!

Thanks Craig! I was up in the Delta hotel's panorama room for a work thing when I saw that below. I think one could get a slightly better perspective if you tried. It's a really fun view from up there, recommended!

Norm, are you doing something different in your post-processing? I see a lot less output sharpening, and I much prefer it. Your shots look wonderful
I agree, the photos look much better and more natural and realistic now.

First iris of Spring.

These particular flowers are my favorite. They are descendants of ones that I took from my grandparents house over 50 years ago. I took some to my parents house tended them there and then to the two houses I have owned since. I have also given away bulbs to other people over the years. Since these are an old original breed, they have the added bonus of a wonderful scent to them.

To celebrate the event I put my screw mount SMC 55mm f1.8 lens on my K3. The sharpness of this old warhorse is still as good as just about anything available today. This is the lens that came with my Spotmatic II which I still have too. The first image was to me the best overall focus. In the second I went for the beard in front.

Bleeding Hearts

Same setup as previous post above. I guess that reviewer was right. These old film lenses just don't work on the new DSLR's.
