Well if everyone is doing hummers, I did some today too, may as well pile it on. I see your hummers
K-3 and stack 1.4 and 1.7 TCs for 476mm.
1/400s, 400 ISO ƒ8

And I'll raise y'all a chipmunk headshot....

Wow, what fantastic macro insects. Can you share with me the camera/macro lens setup you used? Is this 1:1, or does it go beyond that standard! Thanks.

And thank you for the compliment! I feel like I've brought up my game a bit this summer.

Thanks! FYI, I always put all lens details on Flickr. In this case, the first shot (butterfly) is natural light with just the D-FA 100mm Macro (and not near MFD, probably more like 1:3 or thereabouts). The other three are D-FA 100mm plus Raynox DCR-250 with off-camera flash. Those three are all above 1:1, but I don't think any of them are quite at MFD (which, for this combo, gives 2:1). The last is a two-shot focus stack, and the three others are single frames.

Picked up a fa77 for a decent price but still not a sharp image can be had so time to move on. The K-1 came in the mail today so this is the last of the bad K-3 shots.

A crowd to tempt tourists, whatever subtle variation on a carving you can imagine. Pick the best one.

During our nephew's wedding I worked to stay out of the hired (and talented) photographer's way and fill in some possible gaps.
The K-3 is quiet enough to take judicial available light photos during the ceremony. And works fast enough to capture unexpected moments during the reception.
photo 1- the groom collecting himself upon first sight of his bride entering the church
photo 2- 'the cousins' by blood and marriage. For years, parents made them line up in specific orders (age & height) at reunions. On a whim the groom called for all the cousins to come out to the dance floor and line up. All the parents got the line-ups, I also saw the dynamics happening in the line-up shuffle.

For Rupert. This is Scooter, so named because he is often seen belly-crawling across the yard.

Taken with the DA*300 and DA 1.4x converter.

Nice Starbursts.

Heres a few I took tonight outside my front yard. I found this guest on my lilac's. Shot with a Pentax FA 100 macro and a Sunpak DX 8R circular flash.

the fennel plant getting lots of love. i counted five Black Swallowtail on the one plant. many parasitic wasps were also present. if you've never seen a parasitic wasp come out of a chrysalis, especially when a beautiful butterfly is expected, it's kinda creepy. i experienced that last year along with my wife and 5y/o daughter. "dad, that's one ugly looking butterfly," she said. 18-135mm. f8. no flash. handheld. CS5 post.
