At any and all tourist-trap souvenir shops where we stopped, there were commonly bolts of cloth on sale, sometimes scores of them, and always the dominant color was red. Whether it has a particular meaning among the people I did not determine. In the three images below, there are some not wearing red, but it isn't necessary to count to see that red is a greatly favored color

On our one visit to Tanzania we found that the cloth which used to be produced locally in the villages was imported from china and purchased by the villagers. This was confirmed by our guide and the Maasai villagers when we visited a native village and I asked about how the cloth was made

All the people in the images I've posted are actually Samburu, a Kenyan group that has the same origin as the Maasi in Tanzania, and therefore substantially the same culture. Of course the souvenir shop people asserted that the cloth was made locally, just as they claimed that all the wooden carvings were made in the shop by hand, and of course it was pathetically obvious that both claims were false.

I notice a tennis ball next to one of your pups. Let me guess. If you throw a raw steak and that ball at the same time, they ignore the steak and bring the ball back every time. I have a 7y/o golden lab/shepherd mix that will run herself to death and refuse food of any kind once that ball comes out. Nice images. I particularly like the ice and leaves shot.
