I finally had the occasion to put the K-3's Weather Resistance to the test! I was at my brother-in-law's place in the countryside. The rain was just pouring, but I went out in the backyard and spotted a creature I'd never seen before. Well, I had to shoot it! I stuck the umbrella shaft into my fleece jacket and rested the umbrella on top of my head to have both hands free while still avoiding getting completely soaked. I would not have done this in a public park - must have been quite the sight! Anyway, the camera, lens and flash still got drenched in the 30 minutes it took to get this focus stack - the (circa 8mm) leafhopper was pretty shy at first. I'm surprised the (non-WR) flash survived! The camera and lens were, of course, fine.

[ speaking of a rock gardener ]

you have heard of course about a " Green Thumb " ( can grow anything, any where ) and a " brown thumb " ( can't grow a thing )

have you heard of a " stone thumb " ?

that is what I have

I could kill a rock garden

We hiked up to Hidden Lake, which is on the border of the park on the British Columbia side. In his backpack on the way down was 8 Kg (almost 20 pounds) of a sample for his garden.

His wife told us that when they were at the Grand Canyon and took the mules down to the bottom, everyone but Lynn was admiring the canyon. Lynn was examining the rock walls beside the trail ....

You appear to be a kindred spirit.
1) My kids are worried they're going to inherit my rock collection years (hopefully decades) from now...

2) I spent five days in the bottom of the GC mapping the Unkar Group, one of the oldest Precambrian sedimentary outcrops in the canyon, and memorized the entire Paleozoic section from the Bright Angel shale up to Moab limestone at the rim summit.

3) I think we're ALL kindred spirits in this forum...!

Yeah, I think this forum is inhabited by a bunch of people with a really bad case of the virus curiosity, and they use cameras to document what they find.

Thank you!

This one got into Flickr's Explore page today (at #400 out of 500 photos in the page)... Eight-frame handheld focus stack with the D-FA 100mm WR, HD DA 1.4x tele-converter and a Raynox DCR-250.
