Golden Eagle: sunlight and shadow

attempts to photograph a Golden Eagle in its enclosure at the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center

seeking to " disappear " the netting of the enclosure in the front through manual focusing and aperture

K 3 + Smc Pentax-DA L 50-200mm F4-5.6 ED WR +HD Pentax-DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter

hand held natural light

first of each set uncropped, no pp, then cropped and pp

[ FYI, the Topeka Zoo and Conservation Center was once known as " World Famous for, among other achievements, the first to have: the first tunnel through an animal's exhibit ( anyone been through a tunnel in an aquarium lately ? ), to have a rain forest exhibit, to have a Bengal Tiger give birth to 6 cubs and to have a successful breeding program for Golden Eagles ]

Allen, you need to open up the aperture so as to use selective focus to its best. f/8 is too deep a focus. Next time, use the lens wide open. That could blur the netting behind the bird a bit.

Lovely colors RAART.
Out this way, the color is winding down save for the occasional stubborn hold-out

Thanks. Here are just changing... In this local park half of the trees are still green and others are yellow or reddish. I guess one more week before change is done.

After the storm

Shot late this afternoon. We still see a lot of damage caused by the heavy storm that hit northern Germany quite badly over the weekend.

This was taken as an abstract shot with the K-3 and the Pentax 18-135. It's the ceiling of the rotunda at the New Mexico state capitol in Santa Fe.
