This is the first photo I've seen which I suspect shows a real reflection of the number of people visiting the famous sites there.
There were large numbers of tourists along the south coast sites east of Reykjavik, but farther east, up the far east coast, and along the north coast it was much quieter. The little island of Flatey was paradisaical, peaceful, unspoiled, unhurried, uncrowded. It truly felt that all the trouble and turmoil of the world were not only left behind, but could not possibly reach that place.
